History:
The history of Gelendzhik dates back to ancient times. Artifacts dating back to the 6th century BCE have been found in its territory. Over the ages, it has been home to Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and Adyghe. In 1831, after the end of the Caucasian War, a Russian settlement was founded on the site of the Gelendzhik Fortress.

Geography:
Located on the coast of Gelendzhik Bay and surrounded by mountains on three sides, Gelendzhik has a special microclimate that makes it a wonderful place for rest and rejuvenation.

Gelendzhik offers a wide range of accommodation options, from luxurious hotels and sanatoriums to cozy guest houses and mini-hotels.

How to Get There:
Gelendzhik is accessible by plane, train, bus, or car. The city has an airport, a railway station, and a bus station.
As of June 2023, the airports in Gelendzhik, as well as those in Anapa, Krasnodar, and Rostov-on-Don, have temporarily suspended operations. The Russian aviation authority has not specified when flights to these locations will resume. However, there is an alternative route for flights from Moscow.

Currently, flights to the Krasnodar region are only available to Sochi Airport, which accepts planes from all airports in the capital. Outside of the peak season, prices for air tickets start at 2500 rubles, and the journey takes about 4 hours.
